“CHRISTMAS FOR SALE’’
Its ten (10) days to go before Christmas. People around the world start decorating their Christmas trees, lighting their Christmas lights and putting Christmas decoration on their houses. People stars looking forwards for the Christmas parties they will attend. There are people sailing lanterns on the street. Godfathers and godmothers start wrapping their Christmas gifts for their godchildren. Children start looking forward for the gifts they will receive. They also prepare their foot socks for Santa Claus’ gift.
But wait!! Are these really the essence of Christmas? The expensive gifts we will receive from other people? The foods on our table for the noche Buena? The expensive Christmas decoration? Are these really what we need for Christmas? Hmmm… How sad to say that nowadays the true spirit of Christmas had gone. I remember my little brother’s poem before. It goes like this…
BAGO MAN ANG DAMIT KO
BAGO MAN ANG SAPATOS KO
KUNG DI BAGO ANG PUSO KONG
IBIBIGAY SAYO
WALANG DIWA ANG PASKO
The moment I heard my little brother recited that poem it touched my heart. I felt like Angels of God touches my heart. And I said to myself. That’s what really Christmas for. That’s the real spirit of Christmas. Giving love for other people. For that’s what our God wanted us to do. I believe that that’s what Jesus wishes for his birthday. To love one another. To give love on Christmas day. Don’t look for Santa Claus, don’t look for the expensive gifts that you will receive, don’t look for the plenty food. Instead give love! Your new love for everybody even to your enemy. Forget the past starts a new day. Bear in mind that everyday should be a Christmas day. Because Christmas is not just because of the happiness that we felt whenever we receive beautiful and expensive gifts from other people. When we get what we want. For Christmas is really not for sale.
